Dr. David T. Yamada, Senior Policy Coordinator, Emeritus

During his tenure as senior policy coordinator from 2000 to 2003, Dr. Yamada developed the afternoon academic program for the Panetta Lecture Series where Central Coast high school and university students attended both his lectures and special seminar presentations by the featured speakers of the Panetta Lecture Series. He coordinated the Congressional Internship Program and the Leadership Seminar. Further, he was very instrumental in developing the Master of Public Policy program offered by the Panetta Institute through the auspices of California State University, Monterey Bay.

Dr. Yamada is also professor emeritus of Monterey Peninsula College where he was Chair of the Political Science Department and the winner of many teaching awards. Consistent with the Panetta Institute’s emphasis on practical politics, Dr. Yamada was involved in several national, state and county political activities and campaigns.

Dr. Yamada periodically teaches at the Panetta Institute working with students participating in the Institute’s different programs.

He and his wife, Kathy, have a grown daughter and son.
