Administrative Assistant

Qualifications: Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail; dedication to high-quality work on all tasks and projects; ability to follow instruction and work within established systems; top-notch writing, editing and verbal communication skills; proficient in MS Office.

Required experience: administrative support for event planning and coordination; professional phone manner; ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Primary duties: assist in planning and organizing programs and activities; communicating with outside partners; help organize meetings/events; working with multiple electronic and hard copy files; drafting correspondence and other products; retrieving and compiling complex information.

Full-time position with schedule flexibility and periodic overtime based on programmatic needs; bachelor’s degree and five years relevant experience preferred.

Volunteer Positions

The Panetta Institute offers an opportunity for volunteers to contribute meaningful service to the community, largely by becoming involved in the Institute’s longest-running program, Monterey County Reads. 

Volunteers for the Monterey County Reads program serve at elementary schools throughout the county, working with Panetta Institute staff members to participate in regular one-to-one reading sessions with selected children in first through third grades. Volunteers are sponsored by members of the Monterey County Reads Consortium, which includes businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, non-profits, service clubs and other groups, and undergo orientation and training by Panetta Institute personnel.
