2007: The Race for the Presidency

The theme for the 2007 Panetta Lecture Series was “The Race for the Presidency.”

As the nation approached the first election in eighty years without a former president or vice president on the presidential ticket, the 2007 Panetta Lecture Series focused on the excitment of our democracy’s most important contest. With a group of speakers that featured former candidates, journalists and noted campaign consultants, the tenth annual series was a lively and thought-provoking milestone.
